01 INTRODUCTION

Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise Registered under the Sierra Leonean companies Act of 2002 to carry out agriculture related business like Rice farming, Maize Farming, Trading of agriculture products and other agriculture related business. The company started operation in 2020 up to 2022 when it was officially registered under Sierra Leone Companies Act. The Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise is Located and operates in Falaba District, Yiraya Chiefdom with production Units located at Sonton Village in Falaba District.

02 WHO WE ARE

Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise is a community based agro business investments Limited Enterprise that specializes in rice crop production and tractor hire services. It was started as way to farm ltd in 2020 and was later rebranded & registered as agro business ltd. Many individuals and groups from several communities have generously contributed to making “The agro business Farm in Sierra Leone” what it is today. These include; Amie Bangura. The farm currently employs 12 full time staff and over 50 community members who participate in various on-farm agronomic activities during particular seasons in the production cycle.

06 SERVICE OFFERED

The following ranges of services are offered /can be offered by Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise.

CROP FARMING

Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise owns two separates farms

1. 250 Acres Farm located at Sonton Village in Falaba District (about 30 Km from Kabala City Centre

2. 1000 Acres (405 Ha) very fertile land Located at Nafarhie  Koinadugu District (about 10km from Kabala City Centre)

Both of the farms are used for crops production using various irrigation systems as they are both supporting irrigation farming.

Various ranges of crop are produced starting from Tomato, Maize, Soybean and Cassava.

LIVESTOCK FARMING

Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise has variety of livestock held at company’s farms whereby Chicken make the main livestock project for the time being;

The main products from poultry range from

• Chicken Eggs;

• Chicken Meat; and

• Day old chicks from hatchery Unit

A. PRODUCTS PROCESSING & Packing

Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise tends to process farm products in the process of value addition to the farm produce, whereby;

• Maize/corn are processed into corn flour or animal feed ingredient

• Soybean by products are also processed into animal feed ingredients

• Sunflowers by products are also processed into animal feeds ingredients

FORMAL, INFORMAL TRAINING & EXTENSION SERVICES.

Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise facilitate links to both formal and Informal training as well as extension services specifically to esteemed customers who purchase day old chicks from the company and contracted farmers. These customers are treated as potential future suppliers of eggs to the company.

The training involves:

• Chicken housing

• Handling of day old chicks

• Brooding

• Feeding

• Growth management

• Keeping chick healthy (Vaccination, Temperature, Ventilation, Lighting etc)

B. PRODUCTS MARKETING 

Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise invests on securing a reliable market for the products produced within the company as well as those products produced by out growers.

OUT-GROWERS MANAGEMENT

Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise manages a list of out growers who produces fertile eggs for hatching at the company.

LOGISTICS AND CROPS TRANSPORTATION

Mama Afro Investments (SL) Limited Enterprise manages the storage and transportation of crops produced in the regional district Makeni for processing and value addition.
